In an episode before or something he mentioned why they would give characters a glove and it was in order to make the hand stand out . For example if the character was all black it’s hard to see hands when there on their body so they have the character gloves to make it easier to draw .

I'm surprised about how many of these people don't know how the characters look
I do believe they know and can picture how they actually look on their head. But as soon as they bring out a paper and start drawing, this is when the struggle begins.
As someone who draws, I faced this problem many time. For example, I make up and imagine many stories with different people I made up and I decided to make an appearance for them, imagining how they look but then I end up drawing something different from my imagination because it’s difficult to draw without a source material in front of you, it takes serious talent to create something that doesn’t exist right in front of your eyes.
